Jed Shermer | Lead Minister

Jed and his wife, Sammie, have lived in Whiting since 2016 as Jed has served in numerous roles here at WCC starting as the Youth Minister and is now the Lead Minister. Jed graduated from Nebraska Christian College in 2017 with a bachelors in Pastoral Ministry and received his MDiv from Liberty University in 2023. Jed and Sammie have three kids, a daughter named Magnolia and two sons named Remington and Shepherd. They love doing ministry in a small town and serving in whatever capacity is needed. A favorite verse of Jed’s is Psalm 8:3-4, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

 

Sammie Shermer | Children’s Ministry

Sammie graduated from Nebraska Christian College in 2017 with a bachelors in Care Ministry. After many years of helping Jed in his different roles in the church started on staff herself in the summer of 2023. She is excited to love the kids in the children’s ministry and teach them the truth of scripture. She is also treasures being a mother and loves homeschooling her own children. Sammie often leans on the verse Psalm 116:7, “Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.”

 

Jennifer Wiggs | Treasurer

Jennifer graduated from John Brown University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She and her husband, Rick have been married for over 20 years and they have 3 beautiful children – Ethan, Jonah, and Chloe. Jennifer loves working at WCC, and she is passionate about seeing God's vision for the church realized. Jennifer has a couple of verses that she holds near to heart: Hebrews 11:1 & 6 says “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see…and without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
